Johor Zoo Trip (Oct 2019)

It's a beautiful day when we are able to visit Johor Zoo! We went on a weekday so the traffic was not so jam, but the place was already packed with visitors. It is understood that the Zoo was still expending and it was in a better condition for the animals.

Their ticket pricing was really cheap!
Ticketing Price (As of Oct 2019) :
Adult (13 years and above) - RM2/entry
Child (2 years - 12 years) - RM 1/entry
Toddlers (0 years - 2 years) - Free

To our surprise, this Zoo consists of a lot of wild animals! As it is neither big or small, it's just the right size to spend some family time here. We spend around 2 hours strolling around this place. Jelly & Piggy enjoy the most as they can see a lot of wild animals which are not commonly available in Penang (FYI, Penang doesn't have a zoo.. LOL) I didn't notice any food shops around so make sure to go with a full tummy. There are stalls selling snacks and souvenirs.

We noticed that some of the animals are not in good shape... like this parrot below, it doesn't have feathers... not sure is it sick or depressed.

Our overall experience was nice. We did manage to see most of the animals, and the area is still expanding. But it's sad to see some of the animals are sick or depressed... I hope the zoo can improve further on the health of the animals.

Notes to consider if bringing kids or elderly people:-
- No parking allocated for the zoo, so we had parked our cars by the roadside, please beware of the cars passing by.
- The place neither small or big, and it has stairs & steps in some areas so wheelchairs (or baby strollers) are not accessible unless you need to carry the baby stroller up/down the stairs.
- Make sure to bring a water bottle to keep hydrated as it is kinda humid and warm as some places are not shaded. It is also advised to bring an umbrella (and/or a handheld fan) if you wish to see the animals from the viewing dock, high up as is it not shaded, but there are trees.
- Make sure to wear shoes which is comfortable to walk around and avoid falling due to slippery floors.
- It can be slippery if raining or wet.
- Better prepare spare clothes for kids if they sweat a lot to have a change of clothes when going home. (Jelly & Piggy sweats a lot and they are wet when we are heading home, so we give them a good wipe & change of clothes for them to feel more comfortable before heading back to the hotel for a bath).
- Toilets are available but small, need to queue if a lot of people. The new toilets (near the raccoon area) don't have water yet when we visited.
- Additional fees apply to feed animals like camels & elephants.
