39 Alma Thirty Nine Kopitiam / Alma ShouMian (39亚里玛寿面) Review

Shou Mian is also known as Longevity Noodle in Mandarin, which is often served during birthdays, New Year or special occasion celebrated by Chinese ethics to wish for longevity. In Alma, Bukit Mertajam, my colleague eventually introduced me to this shop located around housing areas which has been operated quite some time.

Parking around the area is kinda limited so need to walk a distance if you wish to dine here, and it is kinda packed during lunch hours. Their menu is also rather simple, straight forward and bilingual between English & Mandarin. If you are a very small eater, you can opt for their regular sized noodle, but for us, we ordered their shop's Specialty Longevity Noodle soup (Code 101) - Large. You can also select the type of noodles like Yellow Noodle, Bee Hun, Koey Teow, Cintan mee and etc.

Their serving time was not long since it was packed during lunch hours when we visited. We even noticed they place an announcement in Mandarin saying they are the one and only shop in Alma and doesn't have any branches. And ask their customers to be aware of another imitation shop which also named Alma Longevity Noodle (阿里玛寿面). Alma 39 is their house's address where they previously used to operate their business.

Review:
Taste: The noodle really tasted nice for those who can accept lye water but it is not as strong as yellow noodle. I can still accept the taste but would prefer other types of noodle which doesn't consist lye water (like koey teow or bee hun) which I think can taste better! The aroma of the soup was think and delicious with meat broth. The snacks was ok, the toufu was crunchy outside and soft inside, the roasted pork is also delicious with no pork smell, the siu mai is from frozen prepacked, therefore not much to expect and the fried radish cake was also just nice, not too soggy inside. Overall tasted satisfactory. (6/10)
Service: The waitress serve us a while but food serve was kinda fast as it was packed during lunch hours. After our meal, we are required to pay at the counter. (7/10)
Price: Price is reasonable for the noodles but a little pricey for Dim Sum & snacks.
