New Special Seafood Restaurant (新奇海鲜餐室) Review

My family is in a mood for seafood again! Butterworth indeed has many seafood restaurants. We used to dine in this restaurant when they are located in their old place is at Pantai Bersih. Now they have shifted to Raja Uda, just opposite of the famous Tou Mu Gong Temple (斗母宫). Since it is a corner lot, It can be easily spotted. I didn't manage to capture a good photo of the shop from a moving vehicle.

My picky little eater!

They have various of seafood available as on the picture signboard. They have fish, squid, toad, prawns and clams, and also vegetables and bean curd.

This is what we ordered to be eaten by 5 adults and a very picky little toddler... lol!
Braised Bean Curd (M) - RM12.00

Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves (M) - RM8.00

Deep Fried Squid (L) - RM15.00

Thorn Shell / Balitung (L) - RM15.00

Thai Steam Threadfin - RM38.50

Their receipt inclusive of GST

Overall Review :
Taste: We didn't feel thirsty after eating. The toufu, aka bean curd was nice, suited Jelly's appetite and she loves the carrots and baby corn more than the bean curd. It was smooth and still liquid like, not mushy. The sambal sweet potato leaves tasted just normal. It is spicy and not suitable for toddler. The horn shell aka balitung, tasted great with sweet and spicy paste which managed to cover up the mud smell. They chop the pointed end just the right size so that when we suck the meat out at the pointed end, the plastic filter didn't follow out. Honestly this portion it is not enough for the 5 of us (exclude toddler as it is not suitable for them yet). Fried squid also tasted delicious with just the right amount of flour to be fried, and it is crunchy and won't turn soggy after it has been left a while. It took a while for the threadfin to be served, and it has burning charcoal underneath the plate to keep the fish warm. The taste of the soup was appetizing with mild spicy, together with sweet and sour taste. Overall was nice.  (7/10)
Service: The fish served is kinda slow as we nearly finished our meal when it is served, as they didn't manage to serve all the dish around the same time. It also took almost 30 minutes for the first dish to be served.
Notes:
~ Car park is available.
~ Open air concept.
~ Child seat is also available.
~ They have GST charges.
