Want to have delicious and affordable seafood in Penang Island near town area? You should come to this shop and give it a try! It is located at Lebuh Victoria where all the wall paintings and heritage events happen to be in. Apparently the drinks and food are two different bosses (so need to pay separately).
Drinks (Left to Right): Water chestnut, Chrysanthemum, Luo Han Guo (RM2.50 each) |
It is almost 9.30pm when my family and I arrived and we are quite surprise to see the crowd has subsided (it is a very late dinner for us), so serving was very fast! Do expect to wait a while during dinner time as this place normally will be packed especially on weekends as well.
They eventually have a system to follow. You need to find a table and take the table number (in a form of a piece of paper) and order what you want at their counter. This shop will also state their price clearly so you can guess estimate price you are going to pay instead of eat blindly and expect a large bill.
We ordered 4 dishes below and rice which cost us RM80. Not sure about individual price as the Tao Keh Soh (lady boss) just verbally tell us the total.
Jelly the grumpy picky little eater! |
So these are the dish we order for 5 pax, excluding Jelly in which she is a very picky eater!
"Mar Mi" Chicken |
Curry Fish Head |
Fried egg with onions |
Vege stir fry with sambal |
Rice |
These are some of my other snapshots of other seafood.
Meat Crab |
Price for the meat crab 100g RM13 1kg RM130 |
Other choices of food |
They put on a lot of notice stating they are closed on Wednesday |
Plenty choices of fish and prawns |
They even have clams and flower crabs |
Review:
Taste: More to Thai style of taste, and seafood are fresh, we love it! (9/10)
Service: Acceptable, its a kopitiam, don't expect 5 star service (5/10)Notes:
~ They provide baby chair so can bring kids/children who can sit by their own support.
~ If during lunch or dinner time, parking can be difficult as it is also a heritage area with lots of visitors walking/cycling around. Not much parking and there are some parking lots available which need to pay with a little fees.
~ They have open air and air con dining area.
